Key Insights from the Origins Annual Survey
Hey hey Habbos 👋
First off, a massive THANK YOU to everyone who took part in our Annual Survey earlier this year. Your feedback is invaluable and, honestly, it’s what shapes Habbo Hotel: Origins.
After digesting the responses to the survey, we wanted to share some key takeaways and insights, and what we are doing to address them.
📈 Growing the Origins community
The majority of players said that the size of the community was the biggest area for improvement in Habbo Hotel: Origins. 44.4% said it was the most important thing to improve on .COM, with 36% saying the same on .ES and 30.8% on .COM.BR. We hear you: a bigger, more bustling hotel makes for a better playing experience.
To improve player retention, the team is working to introduce better game loops. Our team is launching new and improved Battle Ball seasons as well as a new earnable currency. This currency, which will be obtained by completing tasks, will be used to purchase brand-new cosmetics.
Investing too much in advertising before the game has better retention is something we want to avoid, because it can be expensive and the effort is wasted if the player has a very low chance of sticking around. However, we’re currently working with our parent company Azerion to get coverage on their ad platforms even before Origins’ game loops and player retention is improved.
🎟️ Improving events
Lots of Habbos said that staff-led events were what they enjoyed the most, and that these could be sustained and even improved to help player satisfaction. On the “How satisfied are you with the level of community engagement in Habbo Hotel: Origins?” question, on .COM 15.8% said they were “very dissatisfied” with the level of community engagement in the hotel. The same figures were 5.3% for .ES and 7.7% for .COM.BR. While lots of players gave more average responses and some said they were “very satisfied”, we understand we have room to improve here.
Morgana is making progress with introducing player-created events and games into the Hotel, and this is due to be expanded in the future. Macklebee is also working on a brand-new competition system to bring more ongoing events to the hotel. Each week, a themed competition category – room build comp, Trax Mixdown, or outfit competition – would be selected. You'll have a week to create and submit your entry, and the following week, the rest of the Hotel will vote for their favourites in a “this or that” style, with limited daily votes available. Even just participating would earn you rewards, with extra prizes for people placing in the top ranks. While we’re still in the very early planning phase for this, this could really help with making Origins more of an engaging place to be.

🙋 A more significant staff presence
Interacting with staff is a big part of the Origins experience for a lot of players. In the survey, a whopping 34% of .COM respondents said they were “very dissatisfied” with the levels of staff engagement. The same figure was 31.6% on .ES and 19.2% on .COM.BR. While it can sometimes be difficult for our team members to spend long periods of time in-game chatting to players, based on this consistent feedback we set aside a certain number of hours per month for weekly staff-led games.
In the medium to long term we hope to build on this!
🤝 Trading and the economy
42% of .COM respondents selected “Building and designing rooms” as something that motivates them to play the game. The same figure was 51.6% for “Collecting furni and rare items”, and 35.2% for “Trading and the in-game economy”. For .ES the figures were 42.1%, 50.9%, and 40.4% respectively. For .COM.BR they were 34.6%, 57.7%, and 46.2%. So, it’s clear that lots of players see trading and collecting items as a big part of their experience in Origins.
As well as continuing to introduce different items to the Hotel, we've also put together a proposal to introduce a version of the Habbo Exchange, or credit furni, to Origins. This should make the trading experience much easier, more efficient, and fun. Watch this space 👀
