Diversifying trading in Habbo Hotel: Origins
Hey Habbos! 👋
We’ve been brainstorming some new ideas to bring more flexibility and fun to the Habbo Hotel: Origins trading experience, and we’re really excited to share them with you!
Nothing about the below proposal is set in stone yet, so we’d love your thoughts, feedback, and ideas to help shape it. There’s a section near the bottom of this article where you can see how to provide feedback 💬
Here’s what we cover in the article, in order:
- The reasoning for changing trading in Origins.
- An explanation of Capsules, a new type of furni we want to introduce.
- A refresher on what Credit Furni is, and why we want to introduce it to Origins.
- The Habbo Club Event pass, and why we need to introduce this at the same time.
- How to unlock Capsules.
- How to provide feedback about this proposal.
- Summary of terms and systems.
1️⃣ Why are we changing trading?
Introducing a version of The Habbo Exchange (aka. Credit Furni) to Habbo Hotel: Origins is a controversial topic, with strong opinions on both sides of the “do we introduce it or not” fence.
Credit Furni, as it exists in Habbo today, has problems. Therefore, we want to address these issues in Origins in a way that benefits you as players, the business, and the Origins economy.
We’ve heard feedback from many different player types from many different communities (the Habbo Exchange feedback thread in Discord has over 1,000 messages!) and it’s been great to try and work towards a solution that addresses some of the issues our community is encountering. Here are some of the requests and requirements that were shared with us:
- The ability to reward other players with credits for participating in player-made games, empowering them to purchase the items they want.
- The ability to donate HC or credits to other players in the Hotel.
- The ability to trade for furni without needing to purchase the current weekly rare to do it.
- A desire to grow the economy with a stable, tradable item without the need to purchase Habbo Club on alt accounts to receive Club Sofas.
Our proposed solution to introduce Capsules (something new we explain below) and Credit Furni to the game will achieve the following:
- Solves the four problems listed above.
- Gives you more ways to trade and haggle within the economy.
- Introduces mechanics for free to play Habbos to earn a foothold in the credit-based economy.
- Helps Origins’ economy grow, which is beneficial to all who are active in the trading space.
So, let’s talk about it.
2️⃣ What are Capsules?
Imagine a Capsule as a kind of treasure chest you can buy with real money. When you open a Capsule inside Habbo Hotel: Origins, you get to choose one of two rewards:
- Credit Furni: A mix of credit furni (bronze, silver, gold coins, sacks of coins or gold bars) that you can trade or redeem for credits depending on the size of the Capsule.
- Habbo Club: A fixed number of HC membership days that varies depending on the size of the Capsule. Note that this membership does not come with HC Gifts or the Habbo Club Event Pass. The event pass is described below.
Capsules will come in three different sizes:
- Small. Redeems for a mix of Credit Furni worth 10 credits, OR 5 days of HC.
- Medium. Redeems for a mix of Credit Furni worth 25 credits, OR 14 days of HC.
- Large. Redeems for a mix of Credit Furni worth 50 credits, OR 31 days of HC.

Capsules will be tradable, so you can buy, sell and trade them with other Habbos. But, here’s the catch: after the first trade, Capsules become locked and you’ll need a Capsule Key (described below) to trade them again. While you can’t trade a locked Capsule, you can still open it to get the reward inside.

We want to enable free to play Habbos to get a foothold in the Origins economy, so we will poll the option for you to trade Capsules for Stamps, our incoming new earnable currency, with the following caveats:
- Earnable trade limits: We would limit the number of times a player would be able to trade Capsules for Stamps per month. This limits potential Stamp farming.
- Stamp limits: We would limit the amount of Stamps that could be used to trade for a Capsule, something along the lines of 10 Stamps per credit in the Capsule for example, limiting potential abuse caused by attempting to trade a huge amount of Stamps for a small Capsule.
We feel that the capability of trading Stamps for a Capsule really empowers our free to play Habbos. This is because it allows them to trade away the currency they’ve earned to either enjoy the benefits of Habbo Club, or to redeem the Capsule for credits, giving them some purchasing power for the items
We understand that this does technically introduce a means of purchasing Stamps from other Habbos, which is why we’re heavily limiting the capability. That is also why this will be put to an InfoBus poll, and it’s why we also want your thoughts on whether or not we allow this. We believe the benefits of economic growth outweigh the impact caused by allowing the trade to happen.
3️⃣ What is Credit Furni?
Credit Furni are furni that act as a new, tradable currency that are obtainable only from Capsules. I.e. not the Catalogue. These are the different denominations of Credit Furni we are proposing to introduce to Origins:
- Bronze Coin, which redeems into 1 Credits.
- Silver Coin, which redeems into 5 Credits.
- Gold Coin, which redeems into 10 Credits.
- Sack of Coins, which redeems into 20 credits.
- Gold Bar, which redeems into 50 credits.
You can use Credit Furni in three ways:
- Build with them: Show off your wealth by stacking your Gold Bars high into the sky, letting other players know how many credits you’ve got!
- Trade them: Credit Furni are tradable only once. On trade, they automatically convert to credits for the person receiving them.
- Spend them: We’re thinking about adding a new NPC-owned Coin Shop where you can get exclusive furni that is only obtainable by trading Credit Furni to the NPCs.
4️⃣ What is the Habbo Club Event Pass?
We’d like to have a way for Habbos to be able to gift, reward or trade their furni for Habbo Club using Capsules. However, introducing a way to hand out Habbo Club also means there may be opportunity for people to abuse the system, and give Habbo Club to their alts impacting events like the Grotto event or the InfoBus polls.
To combat this, we’re introducing the Habbo Club Event Pass. All Habbo Club memberships purchased through the Origins Web Shop (including all current memberships) will come with an event pass that lasts for the same amount of time as the purchased membership.
The event pass will be used to access the InfoBus and premium events like The Grotto where we need to mitigate alt account activity. We’ll also update the current in-game membership tracker so that you can track the availability of your event pass. See an example mock-up of this update below:

This means that if you continue to purchase Habbo Club through the web shop, nothing will change for you, and you’ll continue to be able to vote and enjoy events like The Grotto. If you receive your membership through a Capsule however, you will not be able to participate in these sorts of events.
5️⃣ How does Capsule unlocking work?
After the first trade they’re used in, Capsules become locked. To trade them again you’ll need to unlock them with Capsule Keys. These keys are consumable items you will be able to buy in bundles from the web-shop, or in-game using your existing credits, similar to Film or Game Tickets.
You’ll be able to use the Capsule Keys to unlock your Capsules (and we’ll provide an option to do it in bulk for the heavier traders), enabling the Capsules to be used in trades again.
Once a Capsule is traded again after being unlocked, they immediately become locked again and whoever has it will need to use a Capsule Key on it if they want to trade it again.
6️⃣ Providing feedback
While the above is a lot to take in, we hope the above proposal makes sense to you. As well as giving your feedback on this proposal by tagging us on X with @HabboOrigins, we encourage you to join our Discord and navigate to the "Diversifying trading in Habbo Hotel: Origins" feedback channel. Find it under the “community-input” category.

We expect to put all of this to the community in an InfoBus poll some time after you’ve all had the chance to give feedback on it.
