Diversifying trading: An updated proposal
Recently we published an article talking about our plans to introduce a new concept called Capsules to enable us to introduce the core Habbo Exchange furni, aka Credit Furni, into Habbo Hotel: Origins.
After a considerable amount of feedback in the Discord, we’re going to change our approach. While there were a number of you who enjoyed the concept of Capsules, it’s clear that it didn’t quite hit the mark for some of you.
We decided to soft pitch a new idea among all the conversation in the same feedback thread, and to the team it felt like it more closely aligns with what the community wants to see out of the introduction of Credit Furni to the Hotel.
💰 Pristine and Dusty Credit Furni
One thing we heard loud and clear was the desire to simply be able to own iconic Habbo Credit Furni – Gold Bars, Sacks of Coins, etc – as it has always existed in the Hotel. We want to support that, so based on your feedback we’ve adjusted the proposal so that it’ll work in the following way:
- Pristine Credit Furni (Coins, Sacks, Gold Bars) will be purchasable from the Origins Web Shop.
- Pristine Credit Furni is both tradable to other players, and redeemable into the credit value of the furni:
- Bronze Coin: 1c
- Silver Coin: 5c
- Gold Coin: 10c
- Sack of Coins: 20c
- Gold Bar: 50c
- After a trade, the Credit Furni will lose its Pristine status and enter a “Regular”, redeemable only state. You cannot trade it while it’s in this state.
- 30 days after purchasing Pristine Credit Furni, it will transition to Dusty status and will no longer be redeemable or tradable. Similarly, when you acquire Regular Credit Furni through trade, it also becomes Dusty after 30 days. Once Credit Furni becomes Dusty, it cannot be traded or redeemed until you polish it with a Polishing Kit.
This proposal completely removes the idea of Capsules and removes giftable Habbo Club from the proposal too (check this article to learn about the giftable Habbo Club we proposed previously). We’ll revisit that in a future proposal in order to simplify this proposal.
We distinguish between Regular and Dusty Credit Furni by using specific iconography in-game. Regular Credit Furni will have icons and text showing its redeemable credit value, while Dusty Credit Furni will not have these icons. We’ve shown a player-designed mockup from Jeca-Tatu of how this may look below:

We might update the appearance of the Credit Furni in rooms, as illustrated in the community mockup from Eugeen below. Note that these are not the final designs, but are just there to give an idea of what the changes could look like:

🧽 Polishing Kits
In order to trade your Regular Credit Furni, or make your Dusty Credit Furni redeemable and tradable, you’ll need to polish it using a Polishing Kit. Polishing a Regular or a Dusty piece of Credit Furni will make it Pristine, which gives you another 30 days to redeem it or trade it before it becomes Dusty again.
Polishing Kits will be purchasable from the Origins Web Shop, at a fraction of the cost of the Credit Furni, ensuring that using Credit Furni in the Hotel remains affordable and attractive. We also plan on giving Habbo Club members a fixed number of Polishing Kits as part of their membership each month, adding additional value to HC.
🔖 Trading For Stamps
One of the proposals in the previous trading proposal article was that you would be able to trade Stamps for Capsules with other players. We still believe that idea has value, so we’re proposing that players would be able to trade their Stamps for Credit Furni at exactly 10x the value of the Credit Furni, in an auto-redemption trade.
As an example, if you wanted to trade your Stamps for another player’s 10x Bronze Coins, you’d need to trade 100x Stamps (10 x 10) for the Bronze Coins. On trade, those Bronze Coins would be automatically redeemed into your purse. We’d allow a player to perform this type of trade a maximum of twice per week.
We still believe that this is a powerful mechanic to help enable free-to-play Habbos get into the economic side of the game, and that those benefits substantially outweigh potential abuse caused by Stamp farming.
🤵♂️ NPC Shops
One part of the proposal that you all seemed excited for was NPC Shops. We want to push forward with this concept, and similar to before they will accept Credit Furni for their wares.
NPCs will not be bothered by the type of Credit Furni you trade them, and will accept it in any condition: Pristine, Regular or Dusty.
💬 The poll questions
Below are the questions that will be asked of you during our upcoming Infobus poll:
- Should we introduce Credit Furni as explained in the article?
- Should Regular and Dusty Credit Furni look identical in rooms?
- Should Pristine Credit Furni be tradable for Stamps?
- Should we add NPC Shops that give exclusive items in return for Credit Furni?
ℹ️ A Quick Summary
- Pristine Credit Furni. This is purchasable via the Origins Web shop, and tradable or redeemable into the value of the Credit Furni. Pristine Credit Furni will become Dusty Credit Furni 30 days after purchase.
- Regular Credit Furni. After trading Pristine Credit Furni, the recipient will receive Regular Credit Furni. This is redeemable, but is no longer tradable. Regular Credit Furni will become Dusty Credit Furni 30 days after receiving it in a trade, and requires a Polishing Kit to become Pristine again.
- Dusty Credit Furni. Dusty Credit Furni is not tradable or redeemable and are best used as decorative pieces, or in trades at NPC Shops. You can use a Polishing Kit on Dusty Credit Furni to make it Pristine so that you can trade and redeem it again.
- Polishing Kit. Purchasable from the Origins Web Shop, and given as a benefit of Habbo Club in a fixed amount. Polishing Kits restore the Pristine state of Credit Furni and enable the furni to be traded or redeemed.
