Issues with Monday’s LTD release
Hello community! First off, I want to address Monday’s LTD release. It didn’t go as planned, and on behalf of the team, I want to apologise for that.
In the interests of transparency, I also wanted to detail exactly what went wrong, and how we intend to avoid this happening again. I also talk briefly about Habbo feature and content releases in general at the end of the article.
What went wrong
- The LTD itself was not configured properly. This meant that the wrong supply was released on each hotel.
- After this, the team posted on social media to acknowledge this error.
- The team then configured the LTD on habbo.fi correctly, and released it as quickly as possible to give the best possible chance to players who were waiting around for the item. Unfortunately, this didn’t give enough time to a) properly communicate that it was being released imminently, or b) start a new countdown timer.
- After seeing that the habbo.fi configuration worked, the team then decided to roll out the same configuration fix to all eight other hotels, again as quickly as possible, and again without properly communicating to the player base on those hotels, or beginning a new timer.
The solution
As well as learning from the error with the configuration, going forward our release process now requires that whenever an LTD is released with errors like this, we will reschedule the release for a later date with a new countdown.
Habbo releases
I also wanted to acknowledge that the quality of most of our other releases have been lacklustre as of late. I know that this is affecting overall sentiment and trust negatively, and like you, I feel that there is significant room for improvement.
As a result, I’ve asked for a thorough postmortem and review of our release processes. This may involve slowing down our releases or investing more time and resources into QA, even while this may be challenging given what we want to achieve with the current resources and team size.
