The Habbo Hotel Origins client: large vs small
HELLO everyone đź‘‹
Since the launch of Habbo Hotel: Origins last week, many of you have noticed that the large version of the game’s client doesn’t fit on your screens. We want to explain why this is happening.
Back in the early 2000s when Habbo Hotel was first released, desktop monitors had much smaller screen resolutions. Both the hardware and software of that era were less advanced, meaning fewer pixels on the screen. This is why the regular-sized client looks small on today’s high-resolution screens – your modern screen is much more advanced than the original game software.
To improve your gaming experience, we added a “large mode” to the client. This mode doubles the size of the game, making it fill more of your screen without stretching or compressing the pixel art. Maintaining the quality of the pixel art is crucial because stretching or compressing it makes it look blurry and unattractive. However, the doubled size of the Habbo Hotel: Origins client means it often doesn’t fit entirely on many screens, causing parts of the game to be cut off.
In the current Habbo game, we address this issue by making the client scalable: as you resize the window, the visible area increases while in-game elements like avatars, furni, and text remain the same size. Habbo Hotel: Origins doesn’t have this scaling feature because it wasn't available in the mid-2000s. Given the numerous tasks and fixes we are currently working on, and the fact that the game is designed to function at its current size, it’s unlikely that we will make the client scalable in the near future.
If parts of the game are being cut off, for now we encourage you to play using the smaller, original size.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we continue to work on improving your experience in Habbo Hotel: Origins!
