InfoBus Poll: Gardening!
The Gardening trial has come to an end, and what a week it’s been. From lush Patches and tiny Potlings to full-grown Trees, you filled the hotel with colour, fruit, and life. Rooms looked brighter, fresher, and more alive than ever, and that’s all thanks to you taking part.
We’ve seen plenty of watering, harvesting, and even a few thirsty plants left waiting for demise… but that’s all part of the fun, right? Ophelie made her debut too, bringing a little flair and chatter to the hotel while sharing her blessings on your garden. All in all, the trial showed just how much potential Gardening has as a feature in Habbo Hotel: Origins. We've now cleared the hotel of all gardening plants, and removed everyones fruit!
We also appreciate all of the community from the feedback, some key takeaways and changes we will be making (that we don't believe need to be individually polled:
- Addition of level requirement information to plants in the shop before attempting a purchase.
- Updating the format used to display the amount of water time the plant has remaining.
- Extending Ophelie's blessing to cover an entire hour as opposed to 10 minutes.
We are not yet considering the ability to stop growth at a certain point in time, but are looking into the possibility of allowing players to "freeze" a mature plant, to reduce its sprite count.
Now comes the important part, it’s time for you to decide if Gardening should join the hotel for good. Jump on the InfoBus, cast your votes, and let us know what you think. This is your chance to shape the future of the hotel, so don’t miss it.
Additional functionality not in the trial
We want to add a few pieces of functionality that were not part of the trial of Gardening, we're going to describe those below to let you know how we're thinking they would work, and have you poll on those too!
Plant Variants:
One of the things talked about whilst running this trial was the need to have a "chase" card. We want to do that with plant variants, different coloured leaves (Sakura, automnal, christmas), different coloured fruit (green apples instead of red!), the potential is endless.
We would plant for many of these variations to have a small chance of happening through the plants natural growth cycles, but would also be looking at ways to "influence" the variation by having the plant surrounded by certain furni, or other plants (for cross-breeding).
This is not something that would be available immediately on gardening launch if it passed the poll, but would be used to continually provide updates to gardening through new variations every now and then.
Tradable Plants:
Here’s how it would work: you’d buy a special Plant Sack, place a fully grown plant inside it, and from that point on, the plant becomes tradable. You’d be able to trade any level plant (for example, you could grow a level 50 plant and grow that to somebody who was only level 1), but you'd also need to purchase a pot to plant it again. In order to havest a plant you'd purchase, you would need to be appropriate gardening level for that plant.
This would add a fun new dynamic to the Habbo Hotel: Origins economy, rewarding time spent gardening by letting you grow and trade decorative furni that might be hard to find, or in high demand.
Spinklers:
One ask during the trial was the ability to introduce sprinklers, so we'reproposing that we do just that. We see sprinklers as a utility item, so are proposing the following:
- A sprinkler that covered a small number of plants, purchasable with fruit tokens. Requires watering but infrequently (perhaps once a day)
- A luxury sprinkler that covers a larger number of plants, purchasable with credits. Requires watering but really infrequently (perhaps once every 3 days)
If a plant has been watered, and is in range of a sprinkler, it will utilise the water from the sprinkler first, before consuming water within it
The InfoBus poll questions:
- Should we add gardening to the game?
- Should we add a mechanism to trade plants?
- Should we introduce variations to the plants?
- Should we introduce sprinklers to the game?
- Should we introduce a range of non-tradable furni purchasable with fruit?
- Should we sell consumbles used to skip growth stages on plants?
- Should we sell consumbles used to revive plants that died?
ℹ️ Further information:
- We need 70% or more YES votes on each question for it to pass.
- Only HC members can vote.
- The poll closes at 11am Habbo Time, Tuesday August 26th. Don’t snooze on it!!
- If the Origins community speaks (and it speaks YES), we plan to add gardening, and all of the plants you haven't yet seen to the game immediately following the vote!
🗳️ GO VOTE!
So hop into the InfoBus, flex those democratic muscles, and help shape what shows up in Origins next. It’s like voting in an election, but for a new skill. Which is obviously way way way better and more fun.
