Habbowood movie competition: “Behind the maintenance”
A Habbowood event wouldn’t be complete without a movie making competition, right? RIGHT! So guess what? We’ve teamed up with our superstar friends over at bobba.me to make your cinematic dreams come true in Habbo Hotel: Origins!
The legends over at bobba.me have gone full nostalgia-mode and whipped up a pixel-perfect remake of the OG Habbowood movie-making tool on their site!
Your task (should you choose to accept it – and you should): use it to craft a Habbowood movie based on a very specific brief. All the juicy competition details are waiting for you just below 👇
🎥 The backstory
Picture this: You’re playing Habbo Hotel: Origins. It’s 7pm local time – the perfect time to make a cup of tea, load up Spotify, and hop onto Origins. Suddenly, a message appears on your screen:
🛠️ “We’re currently undergoing maintenance...” 🛠️
Right after, your screen goes black 😯
🗒️ The competition brief
Here’s the question – what’s actually causing the maintenance? 🤨 Maybe the Hotel Staff are battling rogue bots in the server room. Maybe a portal to the underworld opened in the basement. Maybe Dave finally snapped. Or maybe – JUST MAYBE – it’s all a cover-up for something else?
Your task is to use the movie making tool on Bobba.me’s website to create a 30 second long movie showing what has caused the Hotel to go into maintenance mode.
📤 The rules and how to enter
- You must submit your movie using the tool on the bobba.me website before 7am UTC (8am BST) on May 15th.
- Once you make and submit a movie using the tool, we’ll be able to see it. You don’t need to do anything else!
- Only one entry is allowed per player. If you submit multiple movies using the same director name, we’ll use the most recent one you submit. If you’re caught submitting multiple movies, you risk being disqualified from the competition completely.
- Please don’t make your movie longer than 30 seconds.
🧑⚖️ Judging
We’ll be judging the competition on your:
- Creative take on the brief. Create a movie using the bobba.me movie making tool showing what is causing the Hotel to go offline for maintenance. Be creative but keep to the brief.
- Incorporation of Habbo lore. We love ideas related to Habbo’s lore and backstory, iconic and well known furni, characters, etc. A sense of humour is always appreciated too.
- Bonus points for clever incorporation of things specifically to do with Habbo Hotel: Origins!
🏆 Prizes
- 1st: Typewriter, 500 credits and a Habbowood Chair
- 2nd: Typewriter, 400 credits and a Habbowood Chair
- 3rd: Typewriter, 300 credits and a Habbowood Chair
- 4th: Typewriter, 200 credits and a Habbowood Chair
- 5th: Typewriter, 100 credits and a Habbowood Chair
The top 20 entries will get the week’s rare. There is no badge for this competition. Note: we commit to never selling the Habbowood Chair, but we may give it out again in the future as a prize.
