Moodlights, Follow a Friend, and other fixes!
Hey folks!
The snow has begun to melt, and that means that a number of public rooms have returned to their non-themed look. We wanted to share some patch notes following today's update, there’s some pretty cool stuff that we’ve checked off from our roadmap now in the game and we wanted to make sure you didn’t miss anything!
Next week we will follow up with a post detailing our thoughts and plans for future features in Origins now that we’re close to ticking off the roadmap we originally shared with you, so stay tuned for that.
Follow a friend
The ability to follow your friend now officially reaches the hotel. We know that a few of you had already discovered that if you clicked in certain places you would be able to join your friends in their private rooms.
We’re now releasing the full feature, inclusive of the ability to follow your friends to public rooms, and the ability to control whether or not your friends can follow you from the “Update My Habbo” window on Hotel View.
Moodlights
Moodlights have entered the game! The poll passed with a resounding “Yes!” and so we couldn’t be happier to bring them to you. We’ve opted to bring them back in their original form without any additional changes right now, but down the line will be looking to explore additional lighting options in alignment with those shared by the community, and others that are feasible with the client technology accessible to us.
Click & Drag Private rooms
This feature was released a little earlier than expected, and has highlighted a couple of issues that need to be addressed before we’re comfortable with enabling it again, mainly we’ll be looking at the following changes.
- Disabling the feature within public rooms.
- Fixing issues related to the use of Click & Drag and the moodlights.
- Ensuring a close collaboration with game & maze creators to ensure this does not break their games.
- Looking at whether or not it makes sense to introduce a “lock” mechanic that room owners can use to control whether or not their room can be moved around the game scene.
Under the hood
Under the hood we’ve made a number of small changes and introduced additional fixes from later shockwave versions.
- Introduced functionality which cleans up assets that are rendered, or fall off screen (such as chat bubbles) to free up additional sprites.
- Introduced a period redraw of the game scene mechanic which ensures no unused elements are left on-screen, this will be invisible to you.
- Altered the behaviour of teleports which should fix issues related to their use whilst moving furniture in the room, and address issues with entering small rooms from large rooms.
- A number of small core engine changes related to loading game files / casts to ensure a more resilient / fault-tolerant approach should there be an issue with reading game data from disk.
- Added Fish hand items to the Fesh machine.
- Added Tinsel back to the Xmas 2025 badge.
- Swapped the Bronze in the Pirate Necklace badge to Gold.
- Resolved issues with non-transparency on the Yukka Plant.
- Resolved an issue with missing pixels on the small Dragon Lamp furniture.
